Chris Squire – Bass
A simple but interesting line from the King of Prog Bass, Mr. Christopher Russell Edward Squire. As the only bass player with Yes during his lifetime (I think – ABWH doesn’t count) he defines the genre to the point where todays Prog seen is littered with Rickenbackers and growling basses (I actually find it annoying). This is not a massive bass feature but Squire was not all about the bass; he was actually a very informed chorister and he vocal harmonies were something special (I recently heard an isolated Squire backing vocal for part of the ‘Tales Of Topographic Oceans’ sessions and it was remarkable what he was getting up to at the back there).
This is from the first Yes album and features the complete Squire part to ‘Yesterday And Today’.
