The More I See You – Dudley Moore Trio

Pete Morgan – Bass

This is a transcription of a TV performance by the Dudley Moore Trio. A lot of people aren’t aware that Dudley Moore was a celebrated Jazz pianist before he became know for his comedy performances but there is plenty of evidence across YouTube as his comedy profile afforded him plenty of opportunities to perform.

This tune (I believe) features Pete Morgan on bass (the evidence is sketchy, though, so it may be Jeff Clyne or Pete McGurk – I don’t know what any of these guys looked like in the 1960s). It is a straight performance but it swings beautifully, especially when the rhythm section moves from the ‘two-feel’ to a straight 4:4. A couple of nasty fills but, otherwise, great stuff to get you drooling.

The transcription starts at around one minute (it misses the first couple of minutes of silliness).
