Dragonfly – Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush

Paul del. Harwood – Bass

I love this album and I love Harwood’s grounded playing. I actually got to see the band at the Port Vale stadium in Stoke On Trent (along with Randy Rhodes era Ozzy and Fast Eddie era Motorhead – that was a hell of a day – I travelled to the gig from South Wales on my own because no-one else wanted to come except my kid brother whose Mum wouldn’t let him go). A very precious memory as I don’t believe FM&MR ever played the UK before or since.

This is the bass part for ‘Dragonfly’ from the 1978 Mahogany Rush Live album. One of my all-time favourite albums which I still listen to today. Canada rocks. I have not completed every fill and glissando but there is everything here that you would need to perform the song. It’s only really three different riffs, the rest is geography.

This one took 30 minutes to transcribe.
